What SponsorBlock does on Mac
SponsorBlock is useful when you want cleaner YouTube downloads without manually scrubbing past sponsorships, self-promo sections, or other marked segments. In Star Video Downloader, it is part of the Mac download workflow rather than something you have to bolt on through browser extensions.
That matters if you archive videos for offline watching, research, editing, or long trips. Instead of remembering to skip ad reads every time you reopen a file, the saved download can already be processed during the download step.
Built into Settings
Enable SponsorBlock directly in the app settings. No separate browser extension is required.
Choose a mode
Select either All segments or Sponsors only depending on how aggressive you want removal to be.
Works during download
SponsorBlock processing is applied during the YouTube download workflow so the resulting file is cleaner before playback.
How to use SponsorBlock on Mac
Open Settings in Star Video Downloader
Launch the app on your Mac and open Settings from the toolbar or app menu.
Enable SponsorBlock
Turn on the SponsorBlock setting. This feature is available with a Pro license.
Choose all segments or sponsors only
Use All segments if you want a more aggressively cleaned video, or Sponsors only if you only want obvious sponsor spots removed.
Download your YouTube video as usual
Paste a YouTube URL, choose quality, and download. SponsorBlock processing is handled as part of the workflow.
Tip: SponsorBlock is especially useful when you download long YouTube videos, podcasts, interviews, and educational content for offline playback. It saves time later because the cleanup happens before the file ever lands in your library.
