Everything most users need after downloading the app: Mac and PC install steps, Pro activation help, Gatekeeper or SmartScreen troubleshooting, and what to send if support needs more detail.
yt-dlp and ffmpeg if prompted.Delete the old downloaded ZIP and app first, then download the latest release again. If Gatekeeper still blocks it, move the app to Applications and use Open Anyway in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
If you are comfortable with Terminal and trust this app, this also removes the quarantine flag:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Youtube downloader.app"
yt-dlp.exe and ffmpeg.exe.SmartScreen can warn on new desktop builds until enough users have downloaded them. Only continue if the installer came from starvideoapp.com and you trust the app. The PC app runs locally and uses the same Pro license method as the Mac version.
The Settings or Premium screen shows your Free or Pro status, the last validation result, and a manual validation action. If you are moving to another computer, remove the old local activation first so your activation count stays clean.
Re-download the latest app build from starvideoapp.com and try again before assuming the key is wrong. Some older builds used an outdated Gumroad product identifier and could reject valid keys even when the purchase email and key were correct.
If a download, activation, conversion, or repair job fails, open Settings and choose Export Support Bundle. That file includes backend health checks, queue state, license status, and recent failures without including your full license key.
Email the exported JSON to support@starvideoapp.com with the URL or file you were working with and a short note about what happened.
